Butterfly wing studies
An ongoing practice of painting butterfly wings to study markings. I have a long standing interest in aposematism in nature- when an animal’s bright colors and distinct patterns are warning signals, telling to predators that they are toxic and dangerous. This signaling is protective and stays off attacks.
The studies below include gouache paint on paper and digital painting.
